Lithium battery limits included in DGR revisions

New restrictions will come into force at beginning of 2018

Measures have been introduced in the latest IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) to reduce the risk caused by carrying lithium batteries.

If the batteries overheat, they carry a fire risk. Coming into force on January 1, 2018, changes to the regulations will restrict passengers and crew from travelling with more than 15 portable electronic devices (PEDs), and to a maximum of 20 spare batteries.

AFS in Tanzania achieves European Union RA3 accreditation

AFS in Tanzania has achieved European Union RA3 accreditation, the first Ground Handling Organisation in Tanzania to satisfy the stringent air cargo security measures required to enable AFS Tanzania to handle, screen and make secure air cargo destined for the European Union.

European Union approved validator Mr Sander De Man from EUASV conducted the validation, Mr De Man was impressed with the passion of the AFS team and the efforts made by all to ensure a successful validation.

The RA3 validation of AFS Tanzania is the 24th successful RA3 validation where Professional conducted all pre-validation preparation and training and the validation was conducted by EUASV and Mr Sander De Man.
